Bio-Born and raised on Long Island, Mike began working professionally at age 15. While still in high school, he performed with some of the Island's top jazz musicians and was a member of the North Shore Symphony Orchestra.
At age 18, Mike enrolled at the highly acclaimed Manhattan School of Music where he studied Jazz Performance with Harvie S. After receiving his bachelors degree from MSM, Mike attended Columbia University where he earned a masters degree in Music Education from Teachers College. At TC, he studied classical bass with Linda McKnight & conducting with Dino Anagnost. While still in college, Mike began subbing at the Westchester Broadway Theatre in Elmsford, NY. This led to his taking over of the bass chair full-time. Mike performed in over 16 productions at Westchester, including a featured role in the musical SWING!. Since 2003, Mike has been on the road touring with such musicals as MAMMA MIA!, CATS, PRISCILLA QUEEN of the DESERT, The 25th-Anniversary Tour of EVITA (supervised by Hal Prince & directed by Larry Fuller) and FIDDLER on the ROOF starring Topol. Recently, he was the bassist for the JOSEPH and the AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT Tour, starring American Idol's Diana DeGarmo & Ace Young and is currently on tour with MISS SAIGON. Mike has backed many top performers including jazz vocalist Jane Monheit, movie stars Chaim Topol & Harvey Fierstein, Broadway's Liz Calloway & Theodore Bikel, Miss America 1998 Kate Shindle and former TESTAMENT guitarist Alex Skolnik. Additionally, Mike can be heard on the Original Cast Recording of the off-Broadway show "I SING!" (Jay Records, 2004). Mike resides in New York City while also maintaining a residence in Las Vegas, where he is the Co-Owner of EP MUSIC SERVICES, LLC. Mike has recently subbed on 5 Broadway shows (SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, MISS SAIGON, CATS, CHARLIE and the CHOCOLATE FACTORY, and ON YOUR FEET!), plus JERSEY BOYS at New World Stages. |
